Cardboard Boat Race on Curlew Lake

On July 16th, 2017, teams of 3 people of any age will gather at Black Beach Resort at 2 p.m. to construct a cardboard boat (in the style of their choosing) in 90 minutes using the following materials:

Duct tape, sheets of 4×8 corrugated cardboard, a wooden straight edge (which may also be used for a paddle), markers, pencils and a utility knife will be provided to all teams upon start of the competition.

Note: All teams must include 3 people constructing the boat, however, teams may choose to race with 1-3 people in the boat. Additional construction materials will be given to those teams with more than 1 person in the boat during the race. Teams will receive their materials upon arrival, not before.

When the race begins, 1, 2, or 3 people will float roughly 30 feet out into the lake on their boat and back to the dock. Race participants must be wearing their own approved flotation devices. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian present.
